24.01.2014 Böju – La Habana

Heute Morgen um 6:30 Uhr erinnerte mich mein Wecker daran, dass ich heute nach Kuba fliegen werde… um 8 Uhr war ich dann soweit und fuhr los um Melanie auf dem zum Flughafen Basel abzuholen. Sie wird mein Auto in meiner Abwesenheit benutzen und mich nach meiner Reise abholen kommen.

 

Es schneite nass, so dass die Fahrbahnen nicht bedeckt blieben, trotzdem herrschte stockender Verkehr, so dass wir die Autobahn in Basel verliessen und den letzten Teil durch die Stadt fuhren. Wir erreichten den Flughafen trotz allem rechtzeitig, ich gab mein Gepäck auf und verabschiedete mich von meiner lieben Tochter.

This morning my alarm clock reminded me at 6:30 am that I will fly to Cuba today… at 8 am I finally was ready to take the road direction airport Basel and pick up Melanie on the way. She will use my car while I am away and pick me up after my travels.

It snowed but it was very wet, so that the roads got not covered, nevertheless there was a lot of traffic so that we left the highway in Basel and drove the last part through the city. Despite all we arrived at the airport in time, I dropped my luggage and had to say goodbye to my lovely daughter.

Eine halbe Stunde später sass ich bereits im Flugzeug der Air France, die pünktlich um 10:50 Uhr Richtung Paris abhob… Das Wetter unterwegs war grau in grau, so dass ich mich langsam auf die karibischen Temperaturen zu freuen begann… : ) 

Half an hour later I sat already in the plane of Air France which took of on time at 10:50 am direction Paris… The weather on the way was grey in grey, so that I started to look forward to the Caribbean temperatures… : )

Eine Stunde später landeten wir auf dem Flughafen Charles de Gaulles und bis ein Shuttlebus mich zum Terminal F gebracht und ich das richtige Gate gefunden hatte, konnte ich gleich in die Boeing 777 nach La Habana einsteigen. Wir starteten etwas verspätet um 14 Uhr und nun war ich echt bereit meinen Flug und die bevorstehende Reise durch Kuba zu geniessen! Die 10 Stunden im Flugzeug vergingen tatsächlich schnell mit Essen, Trinken und einem grossen Unterhaltungsangebot.

An hour later we landed at the airport of Charles de Gaulles and by the time a shuttle bus had brought to me to terminal F and I had found the right gate, I could board the Boeing 777 to La Habana. We started a bit late at 2 pm and now I was really ready to enjoy my flight and the upcoming trip through Cuba! Indeed the 10 hours on the plane passed quickly with food, drinks and a big entertainment programme.

Der blanke Horror war die Wartezeit von 2 Stunden an der Passkontrolle in Kuba… zum Glück hatte ich mit einer lustigen Gruppe Franzosen nette Gespräche! Als ich endlich draussen war, schnappte ich mir das erste Taxi und Oscar fuhr mich mit seinem Chevrolet 1953 und Alicia, einem weiteren Fahrgast, zum Hotel Riviera, wo ich um 21 Uhr endlich aber todmüde ankam. Dort wartete bereits Luis auf mich, mit dem ich durch Kuba reisen werde. Ich lerne ihn ziemlich genau vor 2 Jahren in Salta, Argentinien, kennen als ich in seinem Hotel Colonial übernachtete.

The blank horror was waiting for 2 hours until I had passed the immigration in Cuba… fortunately I got involved in nice conversations with a jolly group of French! When I finally had left the terminal I went for the first taxi and Oscar with Alicia, another client, drove me to the Hotel Riviera with his Chevrolet 1953, where I finally arrived at 9 pm very, very tired. There Luis was already awaiting me, with whom I will discover Cuba. I got to know him exactly 2 years ago in Salta, Argentina, where I had a room in his Hotel Colonial.

Unser Wiedersehen feierten wir in der Hotelbar mit Mojitos und live Musik… und da Luis etwas erkältet war und ich noch stets todmüde, wurde es nicht allzu spät bis wir schlafen gingen.

We celebrated our reunion with mojitos and live music at the hotel bar… and because Luis suffered from a cold and I still was tired to death it was not too late until we went to sleep.
