Heute
Morgen war ich bereits früh wach, kein Wunder wenn man früh zu Bett geht! So
war ich schon um 7:30 Uhr fit und ging eine herrliche Stunde am
Strand entlang joggen. Zum Schwimmen musste ich ziemlich weit hinaus waten, denn
die Flut war erst am Kommen...
I had an
early morning today, no wonder because I went to bed early last night! So I was fit already at about 7:30 am and had a wonderful hour’s run along
the beach. For swimming I had to
wade out quite
far, because the tide was only
just coming...

Nach dem Frühstück machten wir uns bereit für die Abreise, die wir um 11 Uhr Richtung Süden antraten. Zuerst ging es zurück auf dem Damm nach Morón und wir schossen die letzten Fotos von den atemberaubenden Cayos... Wir fuhren weiter Richtung Südwesten nach Sancti Spiritus, darauf folgte eine weitere liebliche und eher üppige Landschaft, das Valle de los Ingenios (Tal der Windmühlen) mit dem Sierra del Escambray im Hintergrund.
After breakfast we got ready for departure and headed south at 11 am. First, it drove back on the causeway to Morón taking the last photos of the stunning Cayos ... We continued southwest towards Sancti Spiritus, thereafter followed another lovely and rather lush landscape, the Valle de los Ingenios (valley of the windmills) with Sierra del Escambray in the background.

Auf dem Abstecher 2 km von der Hauptstrasse zur Hacienda de Guaimaro in Manaca Iznaga machte unser Problemreifen, den wir schon einige Male aufgepumpt hatten, platt. Bemerkenswert war, dass niemand einfach so vorbeifuhr... jeder hielt an und bot seine Hilfe an! Die Leute hier sind äusserst liebevoll und hilfsbereit, der Sozialismus scheint hier in Kuba seine Wurzeln geschlagen zu haben! Überall herrscht ein ruhiges und respektvolles Zusammenleben, Rassismus gibt es nicht. Zudem gibt es keine Analphabeten auf Kuba, jeder geht zur Schule und die Leute sind meist überqualifiziert und üben einen Job in der Tourisikbranche aus um ihr Montasgehalt von 20 CUC mit Trinkgeld aufzubessern…
On the side trip 2 km from the main road to the Hacienda de Guaimaro in Manacá Iznaga we had a flat tyre, the one we had already pumped up a few times. It was remarkable that not a single person just drove past... everyone stopped and offered their help! The people here are very caring and helpful, socialism seems to have struck its roots here on Cuba! Everywhere there is a peaceful and respectful communal life, racism does not exist. In addition, there is no illiteracy in Cuba, everyone goes to school and people are often over-qualified and practicing a job in the tourist industry to supplement their monthly salary of 20 CUC with tips...

Im Restaurant Mirador Valle de los Ingenios machten wir einen kurzen Halt um mit einem frischen Orangensaft Vitamine zu tanken und die fantastische Aussicht zu geniessen.
At the restaurant Mirador Valle de los Ingenios we made a brief stop to soak up vitamines (in form of a fresh orange juice) and the fantastic views.

Eine halbe Stunde später erreichten wir unser Tagesziel Trinidad und beschlossen im Hostal Santaella im historischen Stadtteil zu übernachten. Wir brachten unser Gepäck ins Zimmer und machten uns gleich auf eine Tour durch die Altstadt von Trinidad... wir waren sprachlos, was uns dort erwartete! Das UNESCO Weltkulturerbe ist ein echtes Juwel und wir konnten uns nicht zurückhalten mit Fotografieren!
Half an hour later we arrived at our destination Trinidad and decided to stay at the Hostal Santaella in the historic centre. We put our luggage into our room and then went straight to walk around the old town of Trinidad ... we were speechless seeing such another world! The UNESCO world heritage is a real gem and we could not hold back with taking pictures!

Trinidad
ist nicht nur eine Stadt des Kunsthandwerkes sondern auch der Musik... so
schlenderten wir von einer Musikkneipe zur andern und genossen zwischendurch
ein fantastisches Abendessen im Restaurant Trinidad Colonial: Endlich wieder
Lobster und das beste Essen bisher mit exzellentem Service, gezaubert vom
Kochkünstler Xavier - viva Cuba!
Dies war mit Abstand die heisseste Nacht hier auf Kuba, nicht nur was die Temperaturen anging, sondern auch das lebendige Nachtleben, das hier mit viel Tanz gefeiert wird! : )

Trinidad is not
only a town of arts and crafts
but also of music... so we strolled from one
pub to another enjoyed live music everywhere, having a fantastic dinner in the restaurant Colonial Trinidad in between: Finally Lobster again
and the best food so far with an excellent service, conjured by the culinary artist Xavier
- viva Cuba!
This was by far the hottest night here on Cuba, not only
concerning temperatures, but also
the lively nightlife that is celebrated
here with lots of
dancing! : )
