La Habana - Viñales
Nachdem
wir ein letztes Mal im Hotel Riviera in La Habana gefrühstückt und danach
unsere Siebensachen gepackt hatten, setzten wir uns in unseren Kia Picanto und
fuhren Richtung Westen.
After a last breakfast at the Hotel Riviera in La Habana we packed our
things and drove with our Kia Picanto direction west.
Kaum aus
der Stadt wurde es sehr grün. Die Strassen waren ziemlich durchlöchert und mehr
und mehr Pferdewagen anstatt Autos begegneten uns… Die Landschaft wurde immer
atemberaubender und nach 4 Stunden Fahrt machten wir Halt in einer Cafeteria in
La Palma.
As soon as we had left town it became greener and greener. The streets
had lots of holes and we encountered more horses with carriages than cars… The
landscape became more and more breathtaking and after driving 4 hours we
stopped at a little cafeteria in La Palma.

Eine
halbe Stunde später erreichten wir die Cueva del Indio im Valle de Viñales, der
Tabakmetropole. Diese ist eine der Höhlen hier, wo sich die Sklaven versteckt
hielten und die wir mit einem Boot erkundigen konnten.
Half an hour later we arrived at the Cueva del Indio in the Valle de
Viñales, the metropolis of tobacco. This is one of the caves here where slaves
hid themselves and which we could explore it by boat.

Wir
entschieden die Nacht in Viñales zu verbringen und machten uns auf die Suche
nach einer Unterkunft. Hier werden vor allem private Zimmer vermietet und wir
fanden in Yades Casa Las Estrellas ein äusserst hübsches mit viel Liebe
eingerichtetes Zimmer.
Das
Abendessen nahmen wir im Restaurant Olivo ein, ein weiteres hübsches Restaurant
das die Privatisierung hervorgebracht hat… ich genoss riesige Krabbenscheren! :
)

We decided to spend the night in Viñales and went in search of a room. Here lots of people are renting out rooms in their private houses and we found an utmost lovely one decorated with lots of love at Yade’s Casa Las Estrellas.
We had dinner at the restaurant Olivo, another pretty restaurant which
was born when private business could be started in Cuba… I enjoyed a plate of huge crab claws : )
