30.01.2014 Varadero

Heute Morgen war es grau in grau, sehr dicht bewölkt und extrem feucht… in der Nacht hatte sich der Himmel einige Male ergossen und es schien, als würde es den ganzen Tag weiter so gehen… Wir starteten ihn mit einem doppelten Espresso in der Cafeteria, buchten einen Tisch für am Abend im Fischspezialitätenrestaurant Trinidad und begaben uns danach ans grosse Frühstücksbuffet.

Das Wetter änderte sich tatsächlich nicht, so beschlossen wir am Mittag wenigstens raus joggen zu gehen und rannten den kurzen Strand ab und dann auf die andere Seite ein Stück entlang dem Golfplatz. Schwimmen war im Meer unmöglich, da die Wellen riesig waren und daher sah man auch niemanden im Wasser… meine Runden schwamm ich dann im Pool bis sich der Himmel wieder ergoss.

This morning it was grey in grey, overcast and extremely humid… it had poured cats and dogs several times during the night and it seemed as if it would go on like this the whole day long… We started our day with a double espresso in the cafeteria, booked a table at the seafood restaurant Trinidad for tonight and had breakfast at the big buffet thereafter.

As the weather didn’t change, we decided at least to go for a run and around noon we jogged along the short beach and then a bit along the golf course on the other side. It was impossible to swim in the ocean as the waves were just too big and therefore nobody to see in the water… I swam a few laps in the pool until it started to pour with rain again.

Um 14:30 Uhr begaben wir uns ins Restaurant Trinidad zum Mittagessen und der Himmel schenkte uns tatsächlich einige Sonnenstrahlen! Aber schon bald regnete es wieder in Strömen… Das Wetter schien unsere Stimmung zu reflektieren… was für ein Gegensatz war es doch hier in einem all inclusive Bunker zu sitzen, wo es völlig normal schien alles im Überfluss zu haben, hingegen war der arm gehaltenen Bevölkerung jede Möglichkeit sich zu entfalten untersagt! Immer wieder begaben sich Luis und ich in philosophische Diskussionen, die uns fassungs- und hilflos liessen… Eins wussten wir aber: Wir mussten weg von diesem künstlichen Wahnsinn hier!

As there was not a lot to do, we went for lunch to the restaurant Trinidad and indeed we were spoilt by a few sun rays! But soon thereafter it started to rain cats and dogs… The weather seemed to reflect our mood… what a contrast it was to sit here in an all inclusive bunker where it seemed totally normal to have everything in abundance whereas the poor kept population had no chance at all to develop! Again and again Luis and I got involved into philosophical discussions which left us bewildered and helpless… We only knew one thing: We had to get away from this artificial madness!

Vor dem Abendessen genehmigten wir uns einen Drink in der Lobby Bar und dann ging es ins Restaurant Trinidad, wo wir mit einem Crevettencocktail sowie Hummer und Scampis verwöhnt wurden.

Before dinner we had a drink at the Lobby Bar and thereafter we got treated with shrimp cocktails, lobster and king prawns at the restaurant Trinidad.
